Introduction

"Loomatic" is a revolutionary tool designed to streamline the yarn marking process for handloom weavers. Traditionally, marking yarn consumes days, significantly slowing down production. Loomatic, built on Arduino, motors, and advanced coding, drastically reduces this time, enhancing efficiency and productivity in the weaving industry. The development of Loomatic was deeply informed by a field trip where the team observed the weaving process live, gaining valuable insights into the challenges faced by weavers.

Problem Statement

Handloom weaving is a time-intensive craft, and one of the most laborious tasks is marking the yarn, which can take up to two days. This manual process not only slows down production but also contributes to physical strain for weavers. There is a pressing need for a solution that can automate and expedite yarn marking, allowing weavers to focus more on the creative aspects of their craft.

Solution: Loomatic

Loomatic automates the yarn marking process using Arduino technology, motors, and sophisticated coding. This tool is designed to significantly reduce the time and effort required to mark yarn, enhancing the efficiency of handloom weaving. By integrating technology with traditional weaving practices, Loomatic aims to preserve the art of handloom weaving while modernizing its processes.

The Prototype
